Dating a seal photograph so the register trusts it

Movement logs often include a photograph of a wax or adhesive seal on a hardware-wallet bag. Without a date that matches the register line, the photo becomes decoration.

What we ask clients to capture

Place a written slip in the frame showing the calendar date, the device inventory tag, and the initials of the witness. Take the photo before the bag leaves the dual-control table. Store the file name with the same date format used in the master register.

Common failures

Cropping out the slip, using a phone’s automatic date stamp in a different time zone, or photographing the seal hours after the movement was recorded. Any of these force later reconstruction work.

Why it matters for offline wallets

Offline corporate wallets move infrequently. When months pass between openings, memory fades and the photograph becomes the primary evidence that a seal was intact at a stated moment. Treat it as a register attachment, not a souvenir.
