Cancelled movements belong in the ledger too

Teams sometimes prepare an offline wallet opening, gather signers, then halt because market instructions change. If the register stays silent, the next person to open the cabinet finds seals that look freshly handled and no explanation.

Minimum record

Enter the planned time, the people present, the reason for cancellation, and confirmation that seals were reapplied or replaced. Have the witness initial the cancellation line the same day.

What we see in oversight reviews

Gaps appear most often when cancellations happen late in the evening and the register is updated “tomorrow.” Tomorrow’s writer forgets the nuance. Overnight silence is expensive during audit season.

Practice tip

Keep a single cancellation stamp or pre-printed phrase so tired staff do not invent wording under pressure. Consistency helps more than eloquence.
